Prayers to Redemptorist Saints

“Almighty and Everlasting God, who enkindles the flame of love in the hearts of the saints, grant us the same faith and power of love; that, as we rejoice in their triumphs we may profit by their examples, through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Gothic Missal)

As a Redemptorist Parish we honour in a particular way the Redemptorist Saints. May we join with the Redemptorists in our Parish calling upon their saintly confreres for assistance.

  • St. Alphonsus Liguori (Founder of the Redemptorists, Bishop, Confessor & Doctor of the Church)

  • St. Clement Hofbauer (Known as the second founder of the Redemptorists & Patron Saint of Vienna)
    - Prayer for Strengthening the Gift of Faith
  • St. Gerard Majella (Confessor & The Mother's Saint)
    - Prayer for a Safe Delivery; Prayer in Thanksgiving for a Safe Delivery; and Prayer for a Sick Child
  • St. John Neumann  (Bishop & Confessor)
    - Prayer to live Worthy Lives

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines the word “Saint” as follows:
     Etymology: Middle English, from Anglo-French seint, saint, from Late Latin sanctus, from Latin, 
          sacred, from past participle of sancire to make sacred —
     Date: 13th century
          1   : one officially recognized especially through canonization as preeminent for holiness;
          2   : one of the spirits of the departed in heaven; 
          3a : one of God's chosen and usually Christian people; 
            b : capitalized : a member of any of various Christian bodies; and
          4   : one eminent for piety or virtue.
